What's a service pack?
A service pack is a Windows update that combines new security and performance updates with previously released updates. Installing a service pack helps make sure you've got all the updates your PC needs to help make it more reliable, run more smoothly, and even more enjoyable to use. Think of it as a free all-in-one tune up for your PC.
There are two service packs for Windows Vista. Service Pack 1 (SP1) was released in April 2008, and might already be installed on your PC (to find out, click on the Start button and enter "winver" in the search box). Service Pack 2 (SP2), released in May 2009, contains all the updates we've released since SP1 plus support for new types of hardware and emerging hardware standards. You should install both Service Packs, and you need to install SP1 before SP2.

Microsoft took 5 years for windows vista. But release of Windows Vista has not been welcomed as everyone thought it would be. There has been a lot of complaining. Although we cannot deny that Vista truly has its merits, it also has its downsides and inconveniences. For some users however, especially the XP users, it was a long wait that culminated in disappointment. It is true that Vista has a new and cool user interface and a bunch of other new features. Even non-experts would agree though that Vista looks painfully like XP in a new dress. It may not be completely fair to say this but some people do say that Vista is no better than if XP got a product upgrade. So before moving to windows vista you should consider following points at least.
